About the Book

The book attempts to recast the research process into a different and useful perspective by (i) detailing the impact of theory upon social research, and (ii) examining the impact of researcher upon each step of the research process.

Much of the discussion rests upon a basic reformulation of the nature of theory and theory building, and the premise that researcher is a variable in the research design.

The general framework has further allowed the authors to redefine the parameters of the research enterprise. It has also allowed them to incorporate the initial selection and formulation of research problem and dissemination of the findings as legitimate topics of research methodology.

This book is useful in advance courses in research methods and even for some courses in social theory.
