Indian society is characterized as very tolerant, inclusive and just society. Major agency in any inclusive society is the government’s policies. However, the question of gender justice arises in Indian society as there is widespread gender injustice at various levels and in various forms. The book offers a new perspective to the understanding of the issue of gender justice and inclusion.
Jain begins her analysis with the historical account of exclusion and injustice with respect to inclusion policy. She provides an exhaustive review of the ‘inclusion policy’, the space given to gender under the policy and the process of alienation from inclusion.
This is a comprehensive study of the comparison of rural and urban localities and villages which brings out vividly the desire of the excluded people for inclusion in the categories of the included ones.

About the Author / Editor
Poornima Jain is Head of the Department of Sociology and Political Science in Dayalbagh Educational Institute (Deemed University), Agra since 1995. She has also served for two terms as the Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences. She did her M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. As an academician, she has published three books and presented several papers in conferences and seminars.
