About the Book

The growth of higher education in India has been tremendous between 1947-1990 both in terms of institutions and enrolment. The demand for higher education is accentuating on account of the nexus between education and employment. But the generation of employment opportunities to the educated is scarce, leading to unemployment, which in turn leads to frustration and dissatisfaction among the educated youth. The study presents the employment/unemployment situation of the post-graduates of Mangalore University for the period 1983-89. It further examines the duration of the waiting period and the socio-psychological problems faced by them during the waiting period. It also suggests steps to make them self-reliant and employable.
