About the Book

As the world increasingly becomes globalised, the focus of international attention shifts towards South Asia and seriously engages itself with the social, political, economic and cultural aspects of the region. This book seeks to position gender issues right in the centre of that engagement. The essays contained in this book written by academics from varied disciplines and activists in the field of women’s studies address important issues such as education, health, violence, law, human rights and social equity in the complex demography of South Asia from a gender perspective.
