About the Book

This work deals with the process of growth of rural landlessness in Bangladesh agriculture—an area which has been one of the most dominant research fields of Social Sciences in the post-liberation era of Bangladesh. the main aim of this work is to examine the impact of institutional changes meant for so-called agricultural development on the growth of rural landlessness. The work also examines the different dimensions of rural landlessness including the nature and direction of change in the agrarian structure and landholding pattern with a political economy analysis of the issues. Finally, the work seeks to establish the fact that rural landlessness is one of the basic determinants of underdevelopment in rural Bangladesh.
