About the Book

Integrated area development is one of the most important programmes for the balanced regional development by locating social and economic activities at an appropriate place. The main objective of the present book is to prepare locational plan of a specified infrastructure network which can most conveniently provide the minimum needs to all the people of rural area. The present book deals a detailed and vivid account of physical landscape of the area, its demography and economic activities. The economic infrastructure and the services available have also been dealt. The most useful exercise attempted in the book is the planning portion. The author has made future demographic projections and on this basis, assessed the needs of the area. While doing so, in addition to economic aspects, the environmental quality has been kept in view and an action strategy which can be used by the planners in future has been proposed comprehensively.
