About the Author / Editor

B.K. Nagla is a former Professor of Sociology, M.D. University, Rohtak. He has researched at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and also taught at M.S. University, Baroda and the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science, New Delhi. After retirement, he also worked as Professor on Babu Jagjivan Ram Chair at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He also served as Managing Editor of Bhartiya Samajshastra Sameeksha, the journal of Indian Sociological Society. His areas of specialization include Political Sociology, Sociology of Profession, Sociology of Deviance, Medical Sociology, Environmental Sociology and Studies on the Underprivileged. Besides published articles in national and international journals, he has authored/edited several books, including Factionalism, Politics and Social Structure, Women Crime and Law, Development and Transformation, Indian Sociological Thought, and Sociology and Sociologists in India. The ISC-Fellow Award and ISS-Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed on him for his contribution to sociology and criminology
